3,5/5 Rate this gameWas slightly disappointed by this, yes its very good graphics wise, and the realism is first rate, but the control system! By the time you have found what your looking for, it's too late, and your squad members always seem to do the oppoite of what you tell them. Not for me, but I know there are A LOT of players who love this.
Very good game, if you don't hide for cover you get shot, If you get shot in the leg, you limp slwoly, loads better than COD, no enemies sneaking around the back of you, a few multiplayer servers available, but would love to be able to host my own server here in the uk (ping etc..)
One of the best tactical shooters I've ever played, runs at full hd with all effects on full with just an e6600, 800mhz ram and a GTX260, getting 40+Fps, Hundreds of maps to play single and online, you just have to download them. If I had retail version it would have got a five but im still waiting for metaboli to patch so I can make my own maps. If they don't patch soon im going to have to cancel and buy retail version, at least I can play other peoples maps, but I want to make my own.
No savepoints. Checkpoints load before inevitable death, with no options of roll back. Game deleted. This game could have been really great. Not good enough Codemasters :(
Been playing this all morning and absolutely loving it so far. Graphics are very detailed, very smooth and so far no artifacts or glitches at maximum settings on my pair of 4870X2's. I actually purchased ARMA and ARMA2 (by Bohemia interactive - original flashpoints devs) and to be honest, I find this new flashpoint game far better executed than the ARMA games which were flawed with faulty AI, huge list of bugs, graphical glitches and stupid radio chatter. In OpFlashpoint2... Presentation from the word go is top notch with very slick menus and UI, missions are well constructed, firefights are fun, the command system is intuitive so no need to RTFM.. Not sure about the difficulty curve yet or length of the game.. but so far its excellent. Only found one thing slightly negative.. one of my team was KIA late on in the previous mission, then at the last mission checkpoint, seems the game decided he was now resurrected? I guess you half expect that level of silliness with games that appear for consoles as well. Not sure how well it plays on a lower spec rig.. my guess is that you might struggle on full settings at 1920 res without a 4800 or 5800 series ATI card or a 270-280 series nvidia card. Very pleased with Metaboli for adding it to the library.. download it and give it a go ;-)
-Let me start off saying I have not enjoyed a game of this type since the original Ghost Recon. I first played that and really had my first on-line / multi player gaming experience. I kind of feel the same way with this. A better set-up, better graphics and sounds, better tactics, better deaths, and some weird and wonderful game play all combined.- -Games of this sort are usually difficult to get STRAIGHT into because of the plethora of controls and the time it takes to assimilate that knowledge into a running / gunning soldier to be reckoned with.- -The bones of the game give it an authentic / "THE KINGDOM" feel that translates into tension and play ability that makes you feel in control of events around you and responsible for things when they go wrong.- -Tons of weapons and equipment. A time and place for everything and commands that makes sense even if sometimes the AI acts on your brilliant tactical skills with the lump solid logic of a teenager in love.- -The experience is better using an XBOX 360 controller. The keyboard + mouse approach is fine for precision but can get complicated with so many commands to learn and then trying to use them when in a fire fight. I personally use a combination of the 2... but I'm not telling how.- -Most definitely the score and the fun factor of a game like this, if given a proper chance, rely heavily on the multi player component and I'm glad to say this game DOES NOT DISAPPOINT. The game play with competent players on a fast server make this a great experience and one you will come back to, make plans for, sneak to your computer in the middle of the night, and hope there are good, organized games to play.- -It is not all wine and roses so here are the NEGATIVES: A)AI seems a bit dated and linear in it's approach. B)Although it is the bread and butter of a game like this it is frustrating to find and seek the enemy. C)There are times when you get KILLED for no reason, or at least no GOOD reason I should say.- -Overall, it is worth the download, worth the play and the 2 or so hours it take to really get use to it. A special note from the reviewer, I am setting up and implementing a server time table JUST FOR METABOLI PLAYERS. Details in the “A TIME TO DIE, A TIME TO DIE, RESET, AND CRY” Cheers :-)
